Caught Unawares!

DO you remember Asifa? DO you remember the horrible description of the way that her life was brought to an end being flashed on the television day in and day out for about a fortnight? Do you remember the people involved? Do you remember the last name of the young boy who committed suicide a few weeks ago just because he was apparently a percent short of attendance? Do you remember Kangana Ranaut and a bunch of other celebrities shouting their lungs out the last year trying to fix a very first-hand problem prevalent in any industry-nepotism? No, you don't. Because, that is the religion of the general public-self induced amnesia. We tend to follow everything blindly, do everything just because a bunch of no-brainers just like us are doing that thing. Logic has gone on a long vacation to NowhereLand and all that our minds are left with is a sheer prejudice that clouds out judgement and makes us fooler than ever. Everything has become a trend and every major problem has been reduced to the contents of some utterly useless memes. People misuse technology like anything to fulfill their selfish mean-minded motives and everything, one can think of is oneself.

There has been no punishment whatsoever in the case of Asifa as of now and its almost been a year. Even with such a powerful movement going on and bringing along with it a new wave of severe change, nothing promising enough meets the eye yet. An eight year old girl raped and murdered and an entire row of religion over it yielded no result at all. That is where we are heading to. Absolute loss of humanity and selfishness. We don't have an idea or opinion of our own. We have become diplomatic instead of being rational. We are sheep jumping down the same cliff and getting our minds paralyzed. I know a lot of people wont read this and even if they do, the effect this will have on their minds would be extremely short-lived.  But, in the light of the direction things in this country are going, i thought that it has to be somebody's responsibility to point out that there is something terribly wrong with our decisions. We westernize everything but when the Govt tries to set a new record before the eye of the world, all we can think of is wastage of money. When we go to New York City to see the Statue Of Liberty, we see its intricate design, phenomenal ambiance and appreciate its beauty and we discuss how the Americans have set a benchmark before us and when, the Statue of Unity IN India breaks that record, all that Indians can think of is how much of money has gone down the drains to build the structure! No appreciation of architecture, no pride for setting a new record, just cribbing. It feels like the people who think this way want to eat their cake and have it at the same time but guess what, that is not possible.
There was a time when criticism used to a difficult art but today, every single thing that is done with any kind of intention is heavily mocked, busted and thoroughly introspected on the basis of silly criteria. So many versions of the same incident is reported by the gazillion media channels and the kabillion newspapers that by the end of the day, the general public is normally confused as to what the truth actually was, which is a sane thing to happen, if you ask me. Today, I just want to request people to be bold and figure out ways to impact the general public in ways that will long lasting effects. Sharing on social media is definitely a beginning jut its barely a scratch on the surface and we have a long way to go to set things right.

Imaginary Conversations with You

I went by your house last night again. It become a habit now passing by your place, drunk. Like it's some typical Bollywood movie. only it's not because I know what I am doing. I am in control and I'll never lose it. I looked up the window I used to always look up at. I saw me. Sixteen year old me. Patiently looking down from your window. There was a calm in her I know wasn't in her when I was sixteen. My breath grew shallow and paced up. There isn't anything the same in the both of us. You were right. I camouflage really easily and before I could know, I became this person. I think I gave in to the lifestyle; the parties booze and boys caught up to me and it's okay. I am not complaining. I won't say that that I detest the woman I have become. I absolutely do not think I should have been the way I was when I met you; fragile and easy to love. I don't want to be easy.  I don't want to love the way I loved you, like a traveller in a desert loves a mira...

Those dancing feet could be theirs

If you dance in the rain, you ought to get wet. You cannot do something and not bear it's consequence. I have seen this in my own life. Yes, my very life has been testimonial to the words I speak tonight. It's very easy to comment upon something, to say what is good to be done but to do it is difficult. That is very difficult, indeed. Life, according to me, is not about being good or bad. It never has been so. Life is all about change. That's the only constant thing in all our lives. We constantly become different persons, sometimes so different that we can't even unite ourselves to the person we were before. And we become different and thereby evolve as more matured and prudent by virtue of the choices we make in life. Life, actually, is all a matter of choices, a hierarchy of priorities. It's very easy to dub someone wrong when their priorities don't match with our's bit one must not forget that we might never understand a person completely unless we ha...

Who Am I?

I am not what I look like, I am not what you think right I am not the siren to seduce you, I am not the trumpet to call and defeat you I am the broom that can sweep your city clean, I am the voice that keeps you from your worst sin I am the weight of your conscience that you try to shut out with anger and vengeance I am the light, I am the Darkness, I am Heat and the cold Zephyr I am God that you bow down before, I am the beggar you steal your bread from I am the leader, I am the reader, I am the cook and I am the weaver I am who creates it All I am what the Past is made from and I am what the Future will eventually become I am the infinite Time Look you’re stuck in for your lifetime I am the strength that runs in your bones, I am the weakness, the fragile stone I am the only elastic that holds you strong I am everything you want me to be and yet nothing I am that you so wish to see I am not what I look like, I am not what you th...
